Authorities say a medical issue is the reason a Dubuque man drove thru an intersection and hit two homes Sunday. Police say that 21-year-old Matthew Bahl was driving on Hales Mill Road around 8pm Sunday. As he approached the intersection with Asbury Road, Bahl had a medical emergency – causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Police say his vehicle went airborne, drove thru a yard and hit two homes on Grand Meadow Drive. Officials report that 71-year-old Teresa Kolz-Danuser – who lives at one of the homes struck – was injured by debris. She was taken to Unity-Point Health-Finley Hospital for treatment of injuries to her head and rib. Police say Bahl passed sobriety tests. He was taken to Mercy-One Dubuque Medical Center regarding his medical emergency.
