A threatening note discovered at Maquoketa Middle School led district officials to evacuate the facility on Wednesday. According to a school update, students were taken to a local YMCA and dismissed from there at the end of the school day. Authorities performed a sweep of the school and no threats were found. Both the Maquoketa Police and a Dubuque K9 unit assisted in the search. Law enforcement officials will continue to investigate the threat. Maquoketa schools are returning to their normal schedules and locations today (Thursday).
