An apartment fire in downtown Dubuque sent three people to the hospital Monday afternoon. Fire officials say crews were called about 12:30 for the blaze at a complex on West 11th Street. According to a report, firefighters found a kitchen fire on the first floor of the building. However, heavy smoke trapped multiple people on the upper floors of the apartment. Crews used ladders to rescue three people from the third floor and a fourth person was rescued from the structure’s roof. The three taken to an area hospital were treated for smoke inhalation. Officials say that the fire remains under investigation at this time.
