The Dubuque Community School Board has approved an earlier-than-normal start to the next school year at their meeting Monday night. School Board members unanimously approved a calendar for the 2020-2021 school year with the first day of school on August 14th, rather than the original planned August 24th start date. Teachers will begin their school year August 7th. That will add six instructional days to the 2020-2021 school calendar, which will allow teachers more time to work in missed instruction into their teaching throughout the school year. This is to make up for time missed this past school year due to the closure of schools during the coronavirus pandemic.
