After remaining silent on the issue since Monday, a spokesman for Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday afternoon acknowledged a system flaw that has led to inaccuracies in daily COVID-19 case counts and 14-day positivity rates. The state is adjusting its system to ensure that results are being recorded on the accurate day, not the date of the first test result. It was the fourth different explanation offered by a state official since August 11th regarding inconsistencies between Iowa’s COVID-19 data and calculations based on underlying figures supplied by the state.
