Beware of Scam in Dubuque

Authorities are warning of a scam by callers who claim to be from the Dubuque Police or Dubuque County Sheriff’s Departments. Officials say that residents have reported receiving the calls. These scammers will tell residents that they have a warrant for their arrest and must make payment immediately to satisfy the warrant. Police said they are not calling residents to inform them of warrants, nor would they ask for payment over the phone. Both departments remind residents not to give out personal information if they receive such calls.
