City of Dubuque officials say 16 buildings have been “condemned” and as many as 50 people have been displaced as a result of the an explosion that destroyed a house on Loras Boulevard Monday. As for the 16 buildings that have been condemned, they will need to be repaired before they can be lived in or occupied again. Fire officials were initially called about a contractor who had struck a natural gas main. Crews had been working at the scene for over an hour to fix the leak when the explosion happened around 5:45pm Monday.
