Motorcycle Fatality in Jo Daviess County

A western Illinois man is dead following a motorcycle crash over the weekend in Jo Daviess County. According to a sheriff’s report, 54-year-old Rodney Phelps of Prophetstown was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday evening. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says Phelps was driving south on Massbach Road in rural Elizabeth just after 5pm. An investigation shows Phelps’ motorcycle left the roadway when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve. The crash is still under investigation.
