Travis Tranel – 49th Assembly District
A southwest Wisconsin legislator is asking a state committee to verify the results of last week’s election. Representative Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City) has written a letter to fellow Representative Ron Tusler who chairs the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. In his letter, Tranel says constituents have reached out to him asking the committee to conduct a full audit of the absentee ballots cast across the state.
“We certainly aren’t accusing anyone of anything, but auditing the absentee votes would go a long way toward restoring confidence in our election process and, I believe, may end up bringing people together,” said Tranel.
Tranel added in his letter that most people who have contacted him will accept a loss, but they want it verified that it was legitimate. Staff members at the Wisconsin Elections Commission have responded to criticism by saying the election guidelines were followed as outlined by the state.
