A face mask mandate for the City of Dubuque is over. During a special meeting Wednesday evening, the Dubuque City Council voted to repeal the ordinance that was put in place last August. This move coincides with a recommendation by the CDC to lift mask mandates for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors took similiar action last week to repeal a county-wide mask mandate after hearing the updated CDC guidance. Also on Wednesday evening, officials with Dubuque Community Schools said that face coverings will be optional starting this Friday (May 21).
