An Apple River man was hurt early Thursday after his motorcycle hit a deer. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports 31-year-old Troy Breckheimer was taken to a Galena hospital following the crash. Officials say Breckheimer was driving on West Stagecoach Trail near Scales Mound just before 6am. As he went around a curve, the deer entered the roadway and Breckheimer was unable to avoid a crash. The sheriff’s report says Breckheimer suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
