Students, staff and visitors at Hoover Elementary School in Dubuque will be required to wear masks starting today based on COVID-19 activity. Officials notified Hoover Elementary School families and staff that the number of active, positive cases at the school had exceeded 3% of students and staff at the building, exceeding the threshold set by school board members last month to require masks. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 11 active cases at Hoover, according to Dubuque Community Schools’ COVID-19 tracking dashboard. Ten of those cases are among students, and one is a staff member. Hoover is the second school to implement a masking requirement since board members created a masking policy last month. Sageville Elementary School briefly had a mask requirement last month.
