Forecasters have issued a high wind warning this week for an extensive area that includes as many as 10 tri-state area counties. According to the National Weather Service, the warning is effective from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday and includes Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties in Iowa, Jo Daviess County in Illinois and Crawford, Grant, Iowa and Lafayette counties in Wisconsin. The weather service reports that southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph could gust as high as 60 mph, potentially blowing down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible and travel could be difficult, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles, like semi-trucks.
