Omicron Variant In Dubuque County

Health officials have confirmed the first cases of the COVID-19 omicron variant in Dubuque County. According to the County Health Department, data from the Iowa Department of Public Health shows about 2-percent of Dubuque County’s new cases this month have been the omicron variant. The rest are the delta variant. A total of 315 new cases in the county were confirmed from last Wednesday thru yesterday (Dec 22). In terms of new cases, federal officials say Omicron has already become the dominant strain of COVID-19 across the nation.
