Erik Kronstedt is the first candidate to file for an upcoming Dubuque City Council special election. Kronstedt is running in the March 29th election for the Ward 4 seat. Several other residents have announced their intentions to run for the position, but they have not filed. The vacancy was created when Brad Cavanagh was sworn in as mayor earlier this month, succeeding Roy Buol. Council members agreed to hold a special election to fill the seat, and the winner’s term will run through December 31st, 2023. Kronstedt, who is 32, is a production materials planner for A.Y. McDonald.
