After nearly 37 years of service, Dubuque Fire Chief Rick Steines will retire at the end of March. In a release from the city, officials say Steines last day is going to be March 31st. He began serving as the Dubuque Fire Department Chierf in August 2014. Steines joined the department in 1985. He was promoted to fire equipment operator in 1988, lieutenant in 1990, captain in 1992, and assistant fire chief in 1999. Last year, under Steines’ leadership, the Dubuque Fire Department became 1 of 5 departments in Iowa to be recognized by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, a division of the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
