Police say a Dubuque man driving under the influence crashed into a city park Friday night. 37 year old Alexander Burds reported possible injuries following a crash that occurred at about 7 p.m. Friday at the intersection of West 16th and Iowa streets. The report says that Burds was traveling west on West 16th when he ran a stop sign at the intersection. His vehicle continued through the intersection, over the curb and into Jackson Park. Police reported that Burds showed signs of being under the influence and he repeatedly refused to take a preliminary breath test to assess his blood alcohol content. He was arrested on charges of operating while under the influence and interference with official acts. He also was cited with failure to obey a stop sign, failure to maintain control of his vehicle and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
