Police say a Dubuque man punched another man in a bar, seriously injuring him. 31 year old Zachary Torbol of Dubuque was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging willful injury-causing serious injury and assault causing injury. Police responded at 1:35 a.m. Sunday to Hoffy’s Sports Bar after a disturbance was reported. Arriving officers found a blood trail leading down the steps into the bar and blood on the floor. They encountered 40 year old Radames Alvarado of Dubuque, whose face and shirt were both covered in blood. A witness told police that Torbol had been in the bar and was acting aggressively toward other customers. Torbol refused to leave when a bouncer told him to, and Alvarado stepped in to help escort Torbol up the stairs and out of the bar. A report says Torbol then sucker-punched Alvarado, punching him at least twice. Alvarado was taken by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken nose and a laceration near his left eye.
