The City of Dubuque has its next fire chief. The Dubuque City Council Monday night unanimously approved the hiring of Amy Scheller for the permanent position. She will start on June 6th and will be paid an annual salary of just over $137,000. Scheller has been serving as the deputy fire chief for Naperville, Illinois. Scheller fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Fire Chief Rick Steines at the end of March. She is the first female fire chief in Dubuque’s history.
