Police say an intoxicated driver was injured Monday when she got out of her vehicle without putting it in park and it rolled over her. 56 year old Jacqueline Mendel was taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries. According to a report, the crash occurred at about 7:05 a.m. Monday on Dodge Street near the Hill Street ramp. Mendel was westbound on Dodge when she stopped in the road. She told police that she ran out of gas. Mendel got out of the vehicle without putting it in park. The vehicle then rolled backward over Mendel, crossed two lanes of traffic and hit a concrete lane divider. Mendel was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.
