An ordinance allowing Bellevue residents to use golf carts within the city limits has cleared its first hurdle. In a 5-0 vote, City Council members approved the first reading of an ordinance that would permit golf carts on all city streets other than those that are considered state or federal highways, including Riverview and State streets. Council members approved a similar ordinance for all-terrain vehicles in November 2020 and discussed adding golf carts to that ordinance in June 2021 but postponed the decision until a full summer season had concluded. The ordinance must pass through two additional readings before taking effect. Council members will consider the next reading at their June 22nd meeting.
