House Fire Near Durango

Fire officials say a Dubuque County home was destroyed Wednesday afternoon, and a 2nd home was damaged by heat from the blaze. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office reports that crews were called just after 1p to the residence along Highway 3 near Durango. The home was “completely engulfed in flames” when firefighters arrived. Departments from Asbury, Dubuque, Epworth, Farley, Holy Cross and Sherrill all responded to the scene. Officials say the cause of the fire has not been determined, but it does not appear to be suspicious. No injuries to humans were reported, but two pets died inside the home.
