Police say a Dubuque woman struck her fiancé with a lamp pole and stabbed his sweatshirt during an altercation Sunday. 43 year old Amanda Habel was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of domestic assault while using a weapon, domestic assault with injury, possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated. Police responded at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday and met with 59 year old Daniel Furlong at a residence on Kane Street. Furlong told police that he and his fiancee, Habel, were involved in an argument when Habel began physically assaulting him and struck him in the back with a lamp pole. Habel grabbed a kitchen knife and grabbed a sweatshirt of Furlong’s, cutting it while threatening Furlong. A report says Habel fled the scene in a vehicle and was located driving on Kaufmann Avenue. She told police that Furlong beat her up.
