The Western Dubuque School Board has agreed to pay for half of a project to convert its high school football field from grass to turf. Board members voted on Monday 4-0, to contribute $750,000 to the $1.5 million project first proposed by the Bobcat Legacy Foundation. The foundation will now work to fundraise the remaining $750,000 for the project by March 2023, allowing for the new field to be completed in time for the first high school football game of the year in September 2023. The project would include the replacement of the grass field at Western Dubuque High School with turf, move the long jump pits and expand the field to make it regulation size for soccer.Â
