A Peoria, Illinois company has been selected to complete planned restoration work at the Dickeyville Grotto. The Kohler Foundation, which is funding the restoration has hired Heritage Restoration and Design of Peoria to do the job. Heritage Restoration and Design has six generations of experience in historic building and art preservation. Staff already have visited the site and have begun necessary preparations and cleaning. A report says the restoration will mostly consist of concrete work and general repairs for wear and tear on the nearly-100-year-old structure. Once work begins, it should take six to nine months to complete.
