A woman has been sentenced to two years of probation for assaulting a man in Dubuque, during which she was accused of threatening him with a knife. 29 year old Romeika Wade of Chicago was given a deferred judgment in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to a charge of assault. If probation and payment obligations are met, the record of the case is expunged. Wade initially was charged with domestic assault with display or use of a weapon but pleaded guilty to the lesser-included charge. As part of her sentence, Wade also must pay a $105 fine. Reports say Wade assaulted the father of her child on August 2nd. The man told police he was walking in the 200 block of Valley Street when Wade drove alongside him, exited her vehicle and opened a folding knife while threatening him. The man told police that Wade chased him while holding the knife, and he ran toward his residence. Wade returned to her vehicle, put it in reverse, and accelerated toward the man. The man believed Wade was attempting to run him over.Â
