A blocked sanitary sewer line in the northern part of Dubuque caused untreated wastewater to overflow onto the street and into the stormwater system over the weekend. The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified of the overflow on Roosevelt Street at Amelia Drive at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. According to a release, the blocked line caused about 50 gallons of untreated wastewater to overflow. City staff cleared the blockage by about 3 p.m. The blockage was caused by roots in the sewer line. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources advises that residents keep children and pets away from the posted area for 48 hours.
