Police say an intoxicated driver was injured Saturday in a crash in Dubuque. 30 year old Marvin Murphy of Dubuque, was taken by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. According to a crash report, the crash happened at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Kaufmann Avenue. The report states that Murphy was driving east on Kaufmann Avenue and swerved into a parked car. Murphy continued driving, turned around and crashed into a curb. According to a report, officers who responded to the crash observed that Murphy’s breath smelled of alcohol, and Murphy admitted to drinking tequila. Murphy’s blood alcohol concentration at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday was 0.190%, above Iowa’s legal driving limit of 0.08%. Murphy was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated after he was cleared by medical personnel. He also was cited with failure to maintain control.
