A Dubuque man who was accused of firing a gun into the air multiple times has been sentenced to 27 months in prison on a federal weapons charge. 39 year old Ivan Berry was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after previously pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. According to a report, Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand also ordered Berry to serve two years of supervised release after the prison term. He also recommended a 500-hour comprehensive drug abuse treatment program. Dubuque police were told on October 26 that a man later identified as Berry was outside his residence and had fired four or five gunshots into the air. After further investigation, police were granted and executed a search warrant at Berry’s residence on October 27th. They found a pistol concealed below a panel under the kitchen sink.
