Some personal information of patients treated by the Dubuque Fire Department last fall was transferred inadvertently to another city vendor. City officials said that a vendor hired by the city of Dubuque to analyze Dubuque Fire Department ambulance service call data inadvertently transferred patients’ personal information through a secured electronic transfer. The personal information was acquired from Dubuque Fire Department emergency medical responses between Sept. 10 and Dec. 18, According to a release this occurence was not part of a “hack” or cyberattack. When the error was discovered Dec. 18, “the information was immediately deleted by the receiving vendor and the inadvertent data transfers were immediately stopped
