As an investigation into the alleged theft of more than $524,000 of public money transferred from Dubuque County to the city of Dyersville continues, Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy has tempered expectations. He says the odds of recovering that money is slim. Dubuque County officials announced Monday they are investigating the disappearance of over $524,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act money the county attempted to send to the city of Dyersville. The funds were sent via an Automated Clearing House transaction from the county but were believed to have been intercepted by a third party and never made it to City of Dyersville officials. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department is the lead investigative agency looking into the missing funds. Â
