A Dubuque man has been arrested after police said he assaulted and threatened a woman in a parking lot dispute. 72 year old Steven Slaght of Dubuque was arrested Tuesday at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center on charges of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and first-degree harassment. A report says that Slaght engaged in a verbal argument in the parking ramp outside the hospital. Slaght allegedly yelled at the woman, who responded in turn. According to a report, Slaght pursued her, chest bumped her and grabbed the bottom of his cane and displayed it as though he was going to strike her. The woman told officers that during the incident, Slaght told her, “I will kill you.” Security footage shows the argument as the woman described it, and a witness told officers she saw Slaght hold the cane in a threatening manner. When contacted, Slaght told officers he confronted the woman after she ran a stop sign in front of him.
