A Dubuque man has been sentenced to two years in prison after police found unsafe conditions in the home where his infant died. 24 year old Khalil Holloway received the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to two counts of child endangerment. Holloway lived with 24 year old Valessa Matlock who was arrested Jan. 17 on a warrant charging child endangerment leading to death, neglect or abandonment of a dependent person and two counts of child endangerment. Her case is ongoing. Holloway and Matlock have two mutual children, and Matlock has another child who also lived in the couple’s apartment. A report says that the couple’s 2-month-old was found unresponsive June 10 at the family’s residence and subsequently was pronounced dead that day at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital. The overall condition of the couple’s home was poor and police also found signs of marijuana use within the apartment.Â
