After months of back and forth between Dubuque city officials and building owner Steve Emerson, the demolition of a portion of the Dubuque Brewing and Malting Company building on Jackson St. has been in full swing this week. Crews on Tuesday morning took down the two towers on the south side of the building and began breaking down the rest of the building beneath the towers. Demolition began in earnest last week when crews completed asbestos mitigation measures and prepped the site for this week’s major demolition work.
