Emily’s Legacy DMV Tour Taking Place Today

A statewide tour promoting organ donation will make a stop in Dubuque on Friday, May 17. The “Drive for Life: Emily’s Legacy DMV Tour” will host an event at Dubuque Department of Motor Vehicles from noon to 4 p.m. Friday. The tour is a campaign in memory of Emily Markert, led by her mother, Liz Markert. According to Iowa Donor Network’s website, Emily Markert was an Iowa State graduate and licensed dietician who received two life-extending lung transplants. She died in 2014.  A press release states that Liz Markert plans to visit every DMV location in Iowa over the next three years to share Emily’s story and encourage Iowans to register as organ and tissue donors.
