A recent evaluation determined a Dubuque man accused of killing his mother is competent to stand trial after a previous evaluation deemed him incompetent. The result of the latest competency evaluation for 28 year old Tyler Dazey was presented Thursday in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County. The evaluation determined Dazey is competent to stand trial on the first-degree murder and animal abuse charges he faces. Judge Thomas Bitter said he will review the reports and within the next few days will determine if Dazey is competent to stand trial. Jennifer Dazey was found dead in her bedroom January 8th with “numerous” and “significant” lacerations to her face, neck and head.
