Police said a Dubuque man displayed a handgun during a confrontation. 32-year-old Nicholas A. Santillo was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Grandview Avenue on warrants charging control of a firearm by a domestic abuse offender, domestic assault with use or display of a weapon and child endangerment. Court documents state a woman came to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center on Aug. 10 to report a disturbance that happened earlier that day between herself and Santillo. The pair have one child together, and she said Santillo began to make verbal threats about the woman’s current husband when she went to retrieve the child, documents state. She told officers Santillo “appeared to be under the influence of drugs” and “highly agitated” during the interaction, and documents state he displayed a silver-colored handgun during the interaction. The woman said she was holding her toddler during the incident.
