A Dubuque businessman is running in the November election to represent part of Dubuque in the Iowa House of Representatives. Jim McClain is running as a Republican against state Rep. Lindsay James, a Democrat also from Dubuque. McClain was selected to run for the House District 71 seat at a local party convention after no Republican filed to run for the seat in the June primary. McClain, who owns McClain Excavating & Fence Co., said he was inspired by his faith to run for office and that his top priorities include supporting veterans and law enforcement.
