This afternoon, Platteville Police issued an additional press release regarding the human remains found in the City of Platteville. An initial autopsy has been completed, which did not reveal any outward signs of trauma or information which would point to an obvious cause of death. Further testing will be done to assist with the determination of the potential cause of death. The condition of the remains at the time of their recovery may make it impossible to determine the cause of death with absolute certainty. The Police shared that the remains are those of an adult, white male. The circumstances around the death, evidence collected at the scene, and the location of the remains indicate that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat or danger to the community. The investigation is ongoing and the Platteville Police will update the public as more information becomes available.
