President-Elect Donald Trump has announced that Iowa native and former Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Whitaker will serve as the United States Ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Whitaker is a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa under the George Bush administration. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts, Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration.
