Discussions on the fate of terminated Dubuque police officer Aidan P. Carr will continue into March, as the Civil Service Commission considering his appeal continues to deliberate a punishment short of termination. Police Chief Jeremy Jensen fired Carr on Sept. 27 following allegations that he accidentally fired a gun into his neighbor’s house on Aug. 17 while off-duty and initially lied to reporting officers about the incident. On Wednesday, the commission set another hearing for March 3 to consider what options the city would have to demote Carr short of termination, such as a loss of position or seniority. Carr has been off the force for nearly five months and taken on a second job while he vies for reinstatement with his appeal.
