Five local Iowa high schools recently were recognized for registering at least 90% of their eligible students to vote. Dubuque Senior High School and Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Marquette Catholic High School in Bellevue, Clayton Ridge High School in Guttenberg and Edgewood-Colesburg High School in Edgewood received the Carrie Chapman Catt Award. According to a press release from the office of Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, the five schools were among 40 Iowa schools to qualify for the award this school year. The Carrie Chapman Catt Award was created in 2019 to encourage voter registration in Iowa high schools.
