Driver killed in Dubuque crash

Police said the driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Dubuque. 63-year-old Martha L. Johansen, of North Liberty, Iowa, was transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A Dubuque Police Department crash report states that Johansen was traveling down the Hill Street ramp toward Dodge Street at approximately 10:05 a.m. Saturday when her vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. Witnesses described and traffic camera footage showed that Johansen’s vehicle ran the stop sign and crossed both westbound lanes of Dodge before it struck the concrete median. Johansen’s family was notified of her death. Police continue to investigate the crash. The crash closed the westbound lanes of Dodge Street for approximately two hours.
