A project to pave 2 miles of Dubuque County’s Heritage Trail could begin next year. The Dubuque County Conservation Board recently voted to solicit bids for the engineering of the work on the western part of the trail, which stretches across the county from Dubuque to Dyersville. Dubuque County and the city of Dyersville received a $500,000 federal grant to fund the project to install a concrete surface on the Heritage Trail from the Dyersville Trail Head to Prier Road, potentially extending to Holy Cross Road. Dubuque County Conservation Executive Director Brian Preston told the Telegraph Herald that construction for the project could begin, at best, in late summer or fall 2026.
