Semi driver killed in Dubuque County crash

On Monday just after 6 PM the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Dubuque Police Department and Key West Fire and EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 61 southbound just north of the Buncombe Rd. intersection for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Investigation revealed that a semi driver was pulled over to the side of the road checking and securing his load when another southbound passenger vehicle struck the rear of the semi-trailer and the driver of the semi. The driver of the semi was located deceased on scene and the driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. Highway 61 southbound between Skyline Road and Buncombe Rd was closed until around 9:00 PM. Names of the parties involved will be released this afternoon pending family notification.
