A Dubuque entrepreneur and City Council candidate also seeks a seat on Dubuque Community School Board in this fall’s election. 24-year-old DeLano Cain-Watson filed this week for one of three open school board seats in the Nov. 4 election. Incumbents Anderson Sainci and Nancy Bradley are seeking reelection, while Katie Jones, whose term also ends this fall, has not yet filed to run again. Cain-Watson is also running for Dubuque’s City Council this fall, seeking to fill the Ward 1 seat vacated by Council Member Susan Farber. State law allows individuals to concurrently hold more than one elective office if those offices are not at the same government level. Cain-Watson said he is confident he could manage his time to effectively hold both positions and said he aims to do so to represent the widest swath of area residents possible.
