The Dubuque Police Department is advocating for a new study to tackle space issues within the department. For over 50 years, the department has been sharing its space with the county sheriff. Presently, there are only four workstations available for 50 officers. The proposed study aims to explore available space options, future expansion plans, and address security and vehicle access concerns. The county sheriff’s office supports this project. A public hearing on this matter was scheduled for the city council meeting Monday evening, though it is not currently included in the 2026 budget.
