Grant County Sheriff warn of Discover card payment fraud

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud scheme involving mailed payments for Discover credit card bills. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of residents mailing checks for their Discover accounts, only to have those checks intercepted, altered, and re-written to different individuals before being cashed. At this time, evidence suggests these checks are being intercepted after they arrive in Illinois for processing, and are not being stolen locally within Grant County. If you believe you have been a victim of this fraud, contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
