The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department is facing excessive force allegations in a recently filed lawsuit. The sheriff’s department, the sheriff and a deputy are all named in the suit which states that jail officials allegedly caused severe injuries to a military veteran and violated his constitutional rights “by using excessive force while he was in the midst of a mental health crisis” in early February last year. A summons was issued to all named defendants on Monday. Cory Conway filed the lawsuit last month.
