Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced that $100 million in federal pandemic relief funding will be used to modernize and expand the state’s eight commercial airports, among them Dubuque Regional Airport. 90% of the funds will be granted to airports based upon their passenger numbers from 2019. The remaining 10% will be split equally among the eight commercial airports, which in addition to Dubuque include Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines International Airport, Fort Dodge Regional Airport, Mason City Municipal Airport, Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Southeast Iowa Regional Airport in Burlington and Waterloo Regional Airport. Eligible projects under the program include terminal construction and renovations, parking structure construction and hangar construction.
